Belzona Technosol Limited Restore Walkways at a Homeless Shelter
In June 2011, Belzona Technosol Limited won a tender to repair and protect an external walkway at a homeless shelter in the Scottish Borders. The application was completed within seven days causing minimum disruption to residents, ensuring the walkways were kept safe for pedestrians.
The main area of the asphalt walkway was cleaned and all loose debris was removed prior to the application of a two coat system of Belzona 5231 (SG Laminate). Once the second coat had been applied it was blinded out using Belzona 9231 (Surefoot Aggregate). This material offers outstanding grip properties and has been developed for the protection of concrete floor areas.
On inspection of the walkway, it was found that there was some sagging of the asphalt on the verticals at the railing side of the walkway. Belzona Technosol cut out and repaired this using a lightweight concrete repair material, Belzona 4141 (Magma Build) and a two coat system of Belzona 3131 (Winter Grade Membrane) leaving a level finished edge along the length of the walkway.
Belzona Technosol Limited has extensive experience in the field of repair and maintenance of machinery, equipment, buildings and structures. Belzona is able to offer solutions to problem areas such as erosion corrosion, chemical attack, abrasion and wear, water and weatherproofing, safety surfacing and a myriad of other situations.
